Founded in 1962 , the Virginia School Counselor Association is a state chapter of the American School Counselor Association. It is the only school counselor association in the Commonwealth of Virginia solely for and by school counselors.

Calling all presenters! 

We’re soliciting proposals for presentations promoting evidence-based programs in the domains of academic achievement, emotional growth, social development, career exploration, and post-secondary planning. Presentations showcase best practices, current research, or skills of value to counselors, Pre-K to postsecondary, as well as district personnel, graduate students and counselor educators. Submit your proposal online, and once accepted, get a discounted registration rate!

    Join us for the 2nd annual VSCA Summer Summit 2020 on Friday, June 19th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on the beautiful campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA! 

    Registration begins at 8:00 am at The Visitor and Undergraduate Admissions Center at Virginia Tech (https://vt.edu/admissions/undergraduate/visit/visitor-and-undergraduate-admissions-center.html).

    Attendees will:

    • Learn ways to help students with adverse childhood experiences
    • Learn mindful strategies to promote self-care
    • See an award-winning film- Sreenagers NEXT CHAPTER (https://www.screenagersmovie.com/)
    • Participate in Proacative Programming
    • This event is CEU Eligible! 

    Cost = $25, if you register by Friday, April 24, 2020. After this date, price will go up to $30. Registration is open until Friday, June 12, 2020. Lunch will be provided by Virginia Tech and campus tours will also be available (optional). 

    Hotel/Lodging – We have a block of rooms reserved at The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center if you need a hotel reservation.  As school counselors, we receive a special rate of $101 per night for a single occupancy room however please make your reservation ASAP to receive the guaranteed rate.  The Inn is within walking distance of the Virginia Tech Visitor Center.

    Parking – Please be advised that you may park at the Virginia Tech Visitor Center.  Additionally, if the lot is full there will be signs for overflow parking, which is within walking distance of the Visitor Center.  Parking permits will be given on-site to attendees at registration check-in on June 19th (8:00 am to 9:00 am).

    Assistance – Please contact (540) 231-3548 if you need assistance in any way or with finding the location of the Visitor Center upon your arrival to campus.  The representatives will be happy to assist you. 

    Food/Beverage – Lunch will be provided at the event as well as complimentary coffee/waters throughout the day.
