Emotional Regulation PLC

Emotional Regulation PLC

May 20, 2024, 1-4 p.m. at Old Dominion University

Learning mindfulness strategies can be difficult for children and adolescents, let alone kids with autism, anxiety, ADHD, or other emotional regulation issues. Join the VDOE Office of Behavioral Health and Wellness as we explore simple, on-point interventions that combine mindfulness, expressive arts, and play to help kids achieve greater self-regulation and focus (appropriate for grades K-12).

After the Kick-Off Meeting, participants will continue their learning through self-paced virtual engagement opportunities each month and two virtual community chats (time commitment after Kick-Off Meeting is around 1.5 hours per month, over three months).

Kimochis Professional Learning PLC

May 20, 2024, 9 a.m.-noon at Old Dominion University

Join the VDOE Office of Behavioral Health and Wellness to learn about Kimochis and how you can use them to support students as they explore, process, and regulate big emotions. Attendees will receive the Kimochis Mixed Bag of Feelings Kit and Resource Guide! After the Kick-Off Meeting, participants will continue their learning through self-paced, virtual engagement opportunities over the next three months and two virtual community chats (time commitment after Kick-Off Meeting is around 1.5 hours per month, over three months).

Kimochis PLC

While Kimochis is designed for elementary-aged students, we have had many professionals who work with secondary-aged students participate. Those participants have shared that the techniques can be used with older students as well.
